Edwin Lefèvre (1871–1943) was born in Colón, Panama, to French parents and educated in the United States. He worked as a journalist and financial reporter, then as a broker and writer, publishing short stories and novels as well as market commentary. Reminiscences of a Stock Operator, serialised in 1922 and published in 1923, is a first-person narrative of a trader’s career that is generally read as a portrait of Jesse Livermore. The book has stayed in print as one of the few market classics written as literature.
