Mark Twain was the pen name of Samuel Langhorne Clemens (1835–1910), who grew up in Hannibal, Missouri, learned the river as a steamboat pilot, and spent the rest of his life turning that childhood into the books collected here. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) is the boy’s book; The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884) is the one that changed American prose.
All are free in EPUB, AZW3 and KEPUB. Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn share the same small town on the same river, a few years apart; A Connecticut Yankee carries the same voice into sixth-century Britain. Read them in any order, though almost everyone meets Tom first.
