The 1910s is the decade when popular genres separated into the shapes they still have: the detective story, the scientific romance, the children’s fantasy and the spy thriller. Chesterton’s Father Brown, Burroughs’s Mars, Doyle’s Lost World and Buchan’s Thirty-Nine Steps all date from these years.
Literary fiction was changing just as sharply. Joyce’s Dubliners, Kafka’s Metamorphosis and Wharton’s Ethan Frome are all short books from this decade, and all of them are experiments in point of view. Everything below was first published between 1910 and 1919 and is available on editions.ink in EPUB, AZW3 and KEPUB.
